Why Do We Use Only FSC® Certified Fibre?
We understand that using sustainable fibre is not only crucial in helping us to look after our planet, but it also helps us to deliver excellent quality products, too. Being an FSC® member ensures transparent and ethical sourcing of the raw materials used in our paper production.
Since FSC® certified wood only comes from ethically managed forests, this helps to protect indigenous people and fight against modern slavery. Not only that, but local wildlife also benefits as their habitats are not being destroyed by rapid, unregulated deforestation.
The Difference Between FSC® Recycled 100% and FSC® Mix Credit
FSC® Recycled 100%
FSC® recycled 100% means that 100% of the materials used to make a product have come from recycled material fibres. For example, a wide range of Fourstones paper products are made exclusively from UK sourced wastepaper.
Only FSC® paper products with the FSC® Recycled 100% product label can guarantee the material is 100% recycled.
FSC® Mix Credit
FSC® Mix Credit means that the product is made with a mix of materials from FSC® certified forests, recycled sources and/or FSC controlled wood. Helping you make the right choice to prevent illegal deforestation.
Our New Paper Machine
Our new PM6 paper machine is due to start March 2025 at our Sapphire Mill site in Scotland. PM6 will use FSC® Mix Credit wood pulp exclusively to manufacture our virgin reels and has the capability to manufacture FSC Recycled 100% paper, too. Following the start up, Fourstones will be self-sufficient, manufacturing all paper consumed within the finished goods converting department, eliminating our need to import parent reels whilst guaranteeing full FSC® certification. This also means even better control over the quality of our paper, whilst helping to reduce transport costs and associated greenhouse gas emissions at the same time through our on-site vertical integration.
