FSC® Forest Week takes place from the 21st-27th of September 2026. It is a global campaign that celebrates forests and encourages organisations, communities and individuals to “do one thing for forests”. For us at Fourstones, it is an opportunity to share why responsible forest management matters and how using FSC Certified paper in the paper products we make helps to support forests, and the people and wildlife who depend on them.
Why Forests Matter
Forests are essential to life on Earth. They help regulate the climate, clean the air, filter water, protect soils and provide homes for wildlife. They also support the lives and livelihoods of people around the world.
When forests are well-managed, they can continue to provide renewable materials such as timber, paper and fibre, while helping to protect nature and store carbon. That makes responsible forest management an important part of building a more sustainable future.
The Threats Forests Face
Forests are under pressure from deforestation, degradation, illegal logging, conversion to other land uses and the growing impacts of climate change, including wildfires, pests and extreme weather. When forests are damaged or lost, wildlife habitats are lost, carbon is released, water cycles are disrupted and communities can lose vital sources of income and wellbeing.
How FSC Helps
The Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) runs the world’s leading forest certification system. Their mission is to promote environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial, and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
FSC’s pioneering certification system, covering more than 170 million hectares of forest, enables businesses and consumers to choose wood, paper and other forest products made with materials that support responsible forestry. FSC’s “tick-tree” logo is found on millions of products worldwide, including our paper products, verifying responsible sourcing from forest to shelf.
Our Role in Supporting Responsible Forestry
As a responsible FSC certified UK paper manufacturer, we are supporting responsible forest management and promoting responsible sourcing. FSC Forest Week gives us a chance to explain what this means in practice and to encourage others to make choices that help forests thrive for generations to come.
Fourstones are an FSC Chain of Custody Certificate Holder. This certifies that where forest-based materials were used in our supply chain – from production to distribution – we’ve upheld sustainable forestry standards that protect forests and the labour rights of all involved, including our own staff.
At Fourstones, we pride ourselves on manufacturing sustainable paper products, including using our own UK made recycled and virgin FSC certified paper. Our approach to using UK sourced FSC certified paper exclusively gives tighter control over our raw material, whilst reducing our lead times and helping to reduce carbon emissions associated with importing paper.
